Public Interest Law Initiative (PILI): cultivating a lifelong commitment to public interest law
Greetings!
Since its founding in 1977, PILI has cultivated a lifelong commitment to public interest law by creating opportunities for law students and attorneys to provide public interest and pro bono work in Illinois.
We are pleased to report that PILI has enjoyed many successes in 2009 and has continued to achieve its mission, despite these difficult economic times. These successes would not have been possible without your support and involvement. We are extremely grateful for the commitment of those who serve on our Board of Directors, Committees, and Teams, and also for the generous financial support from foundations, law firms, corporations and individuals that sustains us.
We wish each of you the very best this holiday season and look forward to working with you in the new year to make 2010 PILI's most successful year yet!
Yours truly,
Susan J. Curry, Executive Director Michael G. Bergmann, Director of Programs R. Alex Kliner, Development Associate

2010 CBF & PILI Agency Series: Making the Most of Available Volunteers
Always, but especially in the current economy, volunteers that want to help may not easily fit into existing pro bono programs. Legal aid attorneys and pro bono managers are invited to attend an interactive session on how to effectively and efficiently utilize various types of volunteers to help meet client need, including inexperienced and unemployed volunteers. After hearing about some new and innovative programs and delivery models that are making most of available volunteers, the group will work together to identify successful strategies for involving these volunteers in your programs. This session is on Thursday, January 21, 2010, from 3 to 5 pm at the CBA. Please respond to Kelly Tautges at ktautges@chicagobar.org if you would like to attend.
