PILI hosts an annual Corporate Pro Bono Roundtable to bring together corporate pro bono leaders from around Illinois to discuss the unique pro bono challenges facing corporate attorneys and share best practices and strategies for successful corporate pro bono programs. On October 5, 2011, PILI hosted an International Wine and Cheese Tasting for our Alumni at Bin 36, 339 North Dearborn Street. The Reunion Reception is a chance to reconnect with your fellow PILI Alumni and help us celebrate PILI's Internship and Fellowship Programs with drinks, appetizers and great company! Proceeds from the event support a PILI Alumni Named Internship for the summer of 2012.
This annual program is for Chicago area law students and recent graduates interested in learning more about placements as volunteers, interns or externs, or fellows at public interest law organizations. In 2011, it was held on September 24 at Chicago-Kent College of Law.
PILI organizes the Illinois Forum on Pro Bono to bring together pro bono leaders from law firms, corporations, legal aid agencies and law schools from around the state to discuss timely pro bono issues and share pro bono best practices. Our most recent Forum, "Improving the Pro Bono Delivery Model," was held on September 14, 2011. Ideas and strategies generated at the Illinois Forum on Pro Bono will contribute to the ABA Pro Bono Summit’s ultimate goal of developing a nationally coordinated action plan for improving the pro bono legal services delivery model. Each summer, as part of its Internship and Fellowship Programs, PILI organizes educational and skills-building seminars during the lunch hour for Interns and Fellows on a variety of substantive law and professional development topics. In 2009, as a complement to its Pro Bono Forum, PILI launched the Law School Pro Bono & Public Interest Law Roundtable program to bring together law school pro bono and public interest law faculty and staff from around Illinois. In 2010, PILI's Law School Pro Bono & Public Interest Law Roundtable was held on November 18th.
Each year, PILI organizes an evening programs for Alumni that focuses on maintaining the connection of PILI's Alumni to the public interest law community. This year's program, Serving on a Nonprofit Board of Directors, was held on Tuesday, August 23, 2011.
