EVENTS: law student pro bono programming

Explore the Possibilities: Pro Bono & Public Interest Law Placements

Sponsored by PILI, Phi Alpha Delta and the Chicago Area Law School Consortium (CALSC), this program is for law students and recent graduates who are interested in learning more about placements as volunteers, interns or externs, or fellows at public interest law organizations.  In 2010, this program will be held on Saturday, October 2, 2010.  Additional details will be available in the coming months.

In 2009, this program was held on Saturday, October 17, 2009 at John Marshall Law School.  We anticipate offering this program again in 2010, so check back in Spring 2010 for next year's program information.  The program featured a panel discussion focusing on how to obtain pro bono and public interest law placements, particularly PILI Internships and Fellowships, Equal Justice Works Fellowships, Skadden Fellowships as well as incorporating pro bono and public interest law into your legal experience in law school and throughout your career. Following the panel discussion, there was career service representatives available from Chicago-Kent School of Law, DePaul University College of Law, The John Marshall Law School, Loyola University School of Law, and the University of Chicago School of Law. These representatives conducted resume review and interviewing tips sessions with attendees. Attendees also had the opportunity to meet with leading attorneys in private, government, and public interest law practice as well as a member of the judiciary.
